Why Do Blacks Riot, You Ask?

This video is infuriating. As the first post at this blog, I posted this video with a transcript of the voice over. The white police officer insists (incorrectly) that he has been short-changed at Wendy's, and then he maces and arrests a 17-year old Black waitress, even after the restaurant manager has proved to the police officer that he has received correct change.

Now, read how this injustice was "resolved."

"Judge Upholds Rehiring of Cop Who Sprayed Girl"

DAYTON, Ohio — A judge has upheld the reinstatement of a policeman fired after using pepper spray on a worker at a fast-food restaurant.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Froelich ruled Monday that the city is bound by an arbitrator's order to rehire policeman Michael McDonald.

City officials are considering whether to pursue the case, spokesman Tom Biedenharn said Tuesday.

Officer McDonald used pepper spray on Brandy Martin, then 17, while arresting her in February 1998. He said she refused to go with him to his cruiser and receive a summons after he accused her of shortchanging him at the drive-through window.

Officer McDonald, 35, was found not guilty of misdemeanor assault in June 1998. But Police Chief Ronald Lowe fired him a few weeks later, saying OfficerMcDonald's actions were callous and brutal. Tristate Digest

Great Blog. Thanks for posting this video.
This is a perfect example of "trigger happy policemen".
The sad part is that their are so many like him all over the USA.
I wonder what would have happened if their was no video of this crime.

Thanks, Zawadi!

If there was no video, the Black girl probably would have paid a fine and lost her job.

This is an example of how much power you really have. The bottom line here is "what are we/can we do about this". Can we as a community remove mace, tasers and batons from police equipment. Can we change the rules and make it that once a person is fired they stay fired. How bout taking away the arbitors power to decide the officers fate. Which politician that we vote for will put these types of actions in law. As long as we do nothing about things like this, they will keep doing things like this.

Sefu, I think perhaps we should consistently campaign against pay raises and new hiring for any police department taht doesn't have an elected citizen review board.

That this man had the audacity to challenge his rightful terminatin and the fact that he won reinstatement should serve as a wakeup call to all black people that these folks are for the most part not our friends.

In many cases, the results in cases like these reflect the color-aroused ideation, emotions and behavior of white people.

Cases like this also reflect the utter contempt that some cops and their supporters hold for communities and people of color.

That's the truth, Anonymous.

The real question should be "Why do seem to blacks think that rioting is the correct way to lodge a grievance against the police?"

Whites have rioted for YEARS- and got away with it. The history of this country is full of "white riots". However when whites riot it's usually swept under the rug or rationalized as being 'something else'.....
